Program Description: The longest expansion in US history continues with low unemployment and still subdued inflation. The trade conflicts continue, along with domestic political drama. The Northwest has generally performed well in the expansion with income, employment and population growth above the national average. Prospects and risks for the coming year for the region and the industry will be covered.

Featured Speaker:  John Mitchell - M & H Economic Consultants 

About the Speaker: John Mitchell received his B.A. degree from Williams College and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Oregon. He is a fellow of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oregon and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He was a professor of economics at Boise State University for 13 years, before joining U.S. Bancorp in July of 1983. He was Chief Economist of U.S. Bancorp until July of 1998 and served as Economist Western Region for US Bank until July of 2007. He wrote US. Bancorp’s regional publications including the Update, The Business Barometer, Northwest Portrait, and US Territory and was a columnist for Oregon Business Magazine. He wrote Sterling Bank’s economic newsletter from 2007 to 2012 and continues to write for regional publications. He has been making economic presentations on the nation and the region for more than 45 years. John was a member of the Western Blue Chip Forecast Panel, and is a Trustee of the Aquila Tax Free Trust of Oregon, and Northwest Bank and served as a director of Oregon Mutual Insurance. John was Chairman of the Oregon Council of Economic Advisors from 1992 to 1998 and a member from 1984 to 1998. He was Chairman of Governor Kitzhaber’s Tax Review Technical Advisory Committee and was a member of the American Bankers Association Panel of Economists.

Lodging

A special rate has been secured for PNSFA conference attendees at the resort.  PNSFA's room rates are:

  • $239.00 per night - North Wing
  • $269.00 per night - Park Tower
  • $299.00 per night - Lake Tower

Room rates are subject to applicable taxes (currently 8% state & lodging taxand 5.4% surcharge.  These fees are subject to change.

To secure the PNSFA special rates, call the resort directly at 888.965.6542 and ask for the PNSFA 2020 Conference room block.  Room reservations must be made by August 7, 2020 to insure availability and the group rate.  All reservation must be accompanied by the first night's non-refundable deposit. Please consult the resort for cancellation, early check out and pet policies and fees.

Travel

The Resort is located at 115 South Second Street, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho 83814.  The Spokane International Airport is the closest to the resort and is approximately 40 miles or 45 minutes from the resort.  The Coeur d'Alene provides 6-passenger LimoVan service to and from the Spokane International Airport.  This service is available with 48 hours advanced reservations.  The current fee is $69.00 per person, round trip; $29 per child ages 2-11, round trip.  A 13-passenger motor coach is also available.  Please inquire regarding rates and additional services.  

The Coeur d'Alene provides controlled covered on-site parking.  The current fee is $19.00 per every 24 hour period.  Valet services are also offered at $23.00.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received on or before September 2, 2020 will receive a full refund minus a $50 administrative fee.  Cancellations received after September 2, 2020 will receive a 50% refund of their fees.  Cancellations and no shows on or after September 9 will not receive a refund. 

In the event of inadequate registration, weather problems or other events beyond PNSFA's control, a conference may be moved or cancelled.  Should this occur, an attempt will be made to contact all registrants and fees will be refunded.
