Pre-payment for registration is required. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. On-site registration will NOT be available. Cancellations received on or before February 2, 2023 will receive a full refund minus a $50 administrative fee. Cancellations received after February 2, 2023 and no shows will not receive a refund.

The last two years saw a dramatic jump in inflation from a variety of sources. The Federal Reserve and other central banks have begun the process of bringing inflation down. Rates have soared, asset prices declined and the dollar has surged. The macro question is what kind of landing-a recession or a period of below trend growth? At this writing, employment continues to grow with an unemployment rate of 3.5%. The risks to the outlook for 2023 will be discussed. Oregon, Washington, and Idaho have all recovered from the 2020 recession and are setting new highs in employment--Prospects for the states will be covered. For steel fabricators, the infrastructure bill is in process, the nature of commercial construction is changing with the hybrid office model, questions about some downtowns and increased emphasis on distribution. The coming year promises to be very exciting.

About the SpeakerJohn Mitchell, Ph.D., is a principal at M & H Economic Consultants. John is a charismatic and well-versed speaker, captivating the room with his unique style of presentation. John received his Ph.D. from the University of Oregon and was a Professor of Economics at Boise State University for 13 years before joining U.S. Bancorp where he was Chief Economist / Western Region Economist until 2007. John was a member of the Western Blue Chip Forecast Panel, a Trustee of Aquila Tax-Free Trust of Oregon and a board member of Oregon Mutual Insurance Company, Western Capital Corporation and Northwest Bank. We’re excited to hear John's views on the economy in the coming year as well as his fascinating insight on key economic trends driving business at local and national levels.
